September, 16, the inaugural ceremony of Sichuan PV Industry Alliance and the First Council was held at Tongwei headquarters. According to the council’s plan, Sichuan aims to form a PV accumulative generation power capacity of no less than 5GW by 2017. The output value of Sichuan PV industry chain will achieve 100 – 150 billion yuan. Associate Director of Sichuan Provincial Commission of Economy and Informatization Zhang Zhitie and Board Chairman of Tongwei Group Liu Hanyuan addressed the event and unveiled the nameplate of Sichuan PV Industry Alliance.
During his speech, Mr. Liu Hanyuan stated, China’s PV enterprises are facing development difficulties at large of slow growth, export resistance, and development incoordination. The PV industry, however, has become the major orientation of global clean energy technology and industry development, the sunrise industry for human sustainable development, as well as the strategic emerging industry for China’s international competitive advantage. The current problems and difficulties are challenges to industry development, as well as opportunities for industry adjustment and upgrade. The establishment of Sichuan PV Alliance can promote the sector to become a strategic emerging industry with the highest comprehensive technique level, the most optimized production model, the highest level cleanliness with the best social and economic benefits.
The council reviewed and passed the list of allied member, and selected Tongwei Group as the first Director Unit of the first Council. Currently, Sichuan has 14 key PV enterprises, among which 7 are polysilicon producers with an annual production capacity of 20000 tons; 7 are cell and module manufacturers with a wafer capacity of about 670 MW/year, cell of 800 MW/year, module of 550 MW/year and amorphous silicon thin-film solar cell of 360 MW/year. Sichuan ranks the 3rd in China as for capacity and production volume with the full capacity output value reaching almost 100 billion yuan.
